Pump Maintenance

Midbrook uses various brands of pumps in their parts washers, however all pumps can be classified into two categories: Side mount or vertical barrel mount.

A Side Mount pump is mounted on the side tank exterior and comes equipped with a 8” x 2.5” diameter stainless steel pump screen that screws into the pump flange inside the tank at the base of the pump.

The screen, which is present to keep debris from the bottom of the tank from becoming blocked in the pump, needs to be removed and pressure washed whenever tank is drained of solution. The screen only needs to be hand snug to the flange when it is returned to its proper position.

Pump motors should be periodically cleaned. In order to do this the customer needs to clean outside of pump and motor and then remove the fan shroud in order to clean the cover and fan on the inside of the system. When this is done it should be inspected for seal leaks and/or damage.

Lubrication is not required for the double shielded pre-lubricated bearings. If bearings are single shielded bearings with necessary grease fittings, then they should be greased with a small amount of lubricant every 400 to 600 hours.

Vertical barrel mount pumps are mounted through the top of the side tank and can be completely removed without draining the tanks.

These pumps are installed within a pump housing chamber that includes a sliding screen to keep large debris from being sucked from the bottom of the tank. This sliding screen can be pulled out anytime and cleared of blockage.

There are no seals in this pump so there is no chance of leaking onto the floor.

The inside of the pump motor should be cleaned in the same fashion.
