Gas Burner Troubleshooting
Problem: The burner will not come on
Question: Will the blue light come on?
If no, push it in and see if it flashes on then. If not, then the bulb is burned out.
If burner won’t come on but flashes on when pushed, check to see if the high-low pressure switch (located below the main regulator under the gas electrical panel) has both switches to the left. In order to have it to the left there must be gas to the unit.
Is there gas to the unit? Is butterfly valve for the pilot open? Is main source open? Has someone turned it off upstream?
Open gas panel box and make sure the reset is pushed in.
Go to the Main Panel. Find Premix blower. Push stop/reset, then push the green button. Check its fuses L1, L2, and L3.
Question: Does the blue light dim down after a 60 second delay, but doesn’t stay on?
Check solenoid valve to the pilot light. Valve must be against ground (you have to be able to hear it rub against ground) Take the red plastic button off and slide the top plate against the nut until it connects.
If this just started to go bad then you can switch the ACF Relay blocks around in the panel. If its been going bad for some time then you need a new flame pak.
Check the peep site to see if you have a pilot flame. It is near the bottom facing out from the machine. If you have a flame, but it does not start, then your flame rod is not detecting flame.
Flame rod, white plug on opposite side of panel, is burned out or covered with soot. First, pull it out and wipe it off. If it still doesn’t work, then you need another flame rod.
If yes, then your spark plug could be ground down. To check the spark plug, a) first take the plug out and set it on the frame of the transformer, step away and hit gas button. If there is an arc then it may not be set right. b) to set jam nut first loosen jam nut, push spark plug in until you can feel it hit the side of a nut wall, then pull it out an 1/8, then screw jam nut tight. New spark plugs must be cut to the length indicated in your Hurricane operation manual.
