Filter Canister Maintenance
The particulate filter system is plumbed in-line between the fluid pump and the manifold. This system provides a method for continuously removing solids and debris from the wash tank. By using this filtering system you will extend the life of your heat elements, your pump, your nozzles and the time between tank cleanouts. It will also decrease the amount of work necessary when complete system cleans are undertaken because much of the solids that would have built up on the washer tank floor over time will have already been removed from the system.
The filter bags need to be changed when the inlet to the filter canister gage which is located on the inlet plumbing at the top of the canister and the filter outlet gage which is on the outlet plumbing at the bottom of the canister have a difference is psi of more than 10 pounds.
Some machines are equipped with automatic monitoring systems or pressure differential switches. When the preset pressure differential is reached, a timer begins to count down to the acceptable time frame established that will shut the washer down if the bag is not changed.
To change the bag:
- When pressure is at zero remove the top and pull the old bag out
- Check the bag screen the bag sits in to make sure it is clean and not plugged
- Drain and clean the canister itself
- Insert cleaned screen and new bag and return and tighten top
- Turn pump on and check for leaks
- Normal pressure difference is about 2 psi from inlet to outlet
- If pressure differential is greater, then check pump screens and nozzles
